Margaret Blake portrait

I began writing from a young age, however it was not until my husband, John, persuaded me to do something about it, that I set about writing seriously.

A love of history drew me to writing historical romances, the first of which A Sprig of Broom was published in 1979. A further five historical romances followed, and then, under my Grandmother’s name, Ellen Noone, I published five contemporary romances.

Having missed out on further education, I spent four years in higher education and spent a further ten years working as a Lecturer and Teacher.

I especially loved teaching ‘mature students’ people like myself who had for various reasons, not been able to continue their education.

After retirement and a long trip around Australia and New Zealand – in part backpacking – I once again took up my pen. Returning to one of my favourite themes, righting the wrongs done to the name of King Richard Third by Tudor propagandists, I wrote Seed of the Broom, which was published in e-book format.

I have written five romances for publication by Whiskey Creek Press and one historical romantic suspense. The first of these was Fortune’s Folly, followed by Eden’s Child, Beloved Deceiver and His Other Wife.

The Substitute Bride was published in October 2008, and was followed a  month later by Spanish Lies, a contemporary romance. I was delighted when The Substitute Bride was announced as the publisher's No.1 Best Seller for January 2009! January 2009 sees another contemporary romance Bitter Betrayal which will be published by Wings Press.

2008 also saw me return to my very first publisher Robert Hale. A new venture too in that the three novels they have accepted are romantic suspense. Breaking the Clouds and A Poisoned Legacy were published in 2008, and 2009 will see the publication of Shadows of the Past.

A Poisoned Legacy has a Florida setting. Shadows of the Past takes us to a romantic island off Italy – but with a sinister twist!

I am a member of the Romantic Novelists Association and am married to John. I have one wonderful son, a gorgeous daughter in law, one beautiful granddaughter and two marvellous grandsons.
